In My Garden Today: Welcome to the Twilight Zone!

Earlier this month, I welcomed my second newest rose, 'Twilight Zone' from Weeks Roses, into my garden. This rose is a stunner! Of course I've taken oodles and oodles of photos in between enjoying its delightful scent, this is my first 'purple' rose, but unfortunately, my camera's show it more or less as being a dark pink color.

So, without further a due, introducing TZ:

The purple color and 'ruffled' bloom caught my attention. The scent sealed the deal. Traditional yet lighter with a hint of lemon. (But not a barely scented rose by any means). It made my heart sing! Very unique. (To me anyhow). The blooms remind me of 'old fashioned' garden roses. Some are less purple and more pink, but that's perfectly fine with me - y'all know how I love pink. Regardless of color, so far each bloom has been the size of my hand! Also a good cut rose for the mantle vase.

Twilight Zone is a grandiflora* rose which debuted in 2013 and is apparently fairly good when it comes to disease resistance. (We'll see! Fingers crossed).

Already 10 blooms since bringing TZ home and I'm very excited for the next round of blooms to begin - there are over a dozen waiting to open!

*A Grandiflora rose is a rose whose parents are a Hybrid Tea rose and a Floribunda rose. (In this case, TZ's parents are 'Della Reese' hybrid tea and 'Ebb Tide'™ floribunda). Grandiflora's have long stems with single or clustered blooms. They're repeat bloomers, hardy and the tallest of modern roses (except for climbers). What are Hybrid Tea and Floribunda roses? An Enchanted Garden Party

Welcome to my post! To visit other participants, please head over to the Practical Magic Blog Party 2010 blog. I must say that while I think Practical Magic the movie is adorable, I think the novel is incredible. And that is where I gleaned my inspiration from for these festivities. Gardens are mysterious, magical and enchanting, don't you think? Now follow me out into the garden, I have everything all ready for you, including music! (Turn your volume on). *Update: Music has reverted to my regular Fall soundtrack, 9/28/2010* For all of you non Practical Magic Blog Party folks, head on over to NJ Through My Eyes where I've posted 2 new slide-shows today; one is a preview of a new project I'm working on!

A Walk Through The (Dis)Enchanted Forrest (Halloween Party Post)

Welcome & thank you for visiting my post! For more Halloween fun today & throughout the weekend, visit A Fanciful Twist . For more Halloween & Autumn Fun, check out my "Autumn Tuesday" & "Halloween Thursday" posts by clicking on their labels in the left hand column. ~Happy Halloween & Pumpkin Blessings! *Update for those friends wondering, I put this together prior to surgery yesterday to make sure I would be able to post it for today! (Though it didn't post at 12:01am like it was supposed to). Anyhoo, I'm home and resting (uncomfortably). Surgery went well, my kidney tube and stone are gone! I have an internal stent on the left hand side but I'm okay with that because it comes out in the doctor's office in 2-3 weeks (no back to the hospital) and especially because it meant they could take that nephrostomy tube out! (The last nearly 2 weeks of that 15 weeks was rough with that thing, my body was simultaneously trying to heal aroun...

2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party 2011 is Here! *Updated*

It's time for the 2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party created & hosted by the wonderful Anna of Frosted Petunias ! My sincerest apologies for getting this up rather late! The adventure that is post Hurricane Irene cleanup & repairs has been taking up too much time recently. (sigh) Things are a mess; I only started decorating for Autumn yesterday and I'm missing Halloween decorations! Luckily my broom is always safe and sound by the front door so at least I don't have to wonder where it is. (Not that it hasn't been known to scamper off now and again - naughty broom). I was afraid, quite honestly, that I wouldn't even get a post up sometime today! I kept hitting dead ends with every other one I tried. But, this morning I sat here at the computer and it flowed. Thankfully! I would have been so disappointed if I'd missed this, it was such fun last year! As some may remember from last years party, while I like the movie, (and love that house!), I love the...
