St. Mary's Fair = Summer

Happy Summer!

My my my, this year is certainly full steam ahead! Not only is it past the middle of June, but it's the first day of Summer. How in the world did this happen already?! If Summer weather was like it has been so far this morning all the time throught the season, I would never complain a peep about Summer, ever! What a stunning morning! Last time I checked it was 68* with very little humidity. The sun is shining and breezes are steady. It's an all windows and doors open kind of day which is a thankful relief after the yucky week we just had once Monday passed. Today is also the Hubbs' birthday. Yep, he's a Summer Solstice baby!  Unfortunately, instead of being off from work today as planned, he had to work at his full time job. And he has to work here at TPH when he gets home. And I'm struggling with a migraine. Triple sigh! At least we had a nice night last evening in town, walking along the main street and harbor. A bit warm as there wasn't a breeze to be had, bu

Monday Musings - The Perfect End to a Perfect Day!

Stunning, ain't it?!  Today was the kind of day that made me wish this weather would last forever! Little to no humidity, temps in the upper 70s, consistent onshore breezes coming in the widows & screen doors all day long and sunny. Warm but not hot. Perfectly pleasant!  I happened to be up early (because I haven't been sleeping well the past few days) and so I've been able to enjoy today's weather from sun up to sundown! I also had a very productive day as a result of the weather and for that I'm thankful. In fact, at about 3pm when I was just about to run out of steam and could feel a migraine coming on, I sat on the patio for a few moments to rest and the breezes lulled me right to sleep! I really didn't want to come inside, but that pesky migraine wasn't taking no for an answer so I had to. Unfortunately, today was the 'calm before the storm' as Summer-like heat and humidity will arrive overnight. I guess that

Sidewalk garden in town. Much sunshine & glare coming up the hill in the morning! The porch wraps around three sides of this home up the street from us! 'Julia Child' floribunda rose in my garden.

Friday Favorites - Stormy Skies

I love a stormy sky but not the actual t-storms. Things got pretty interesting around dinner time this evening! Forty five minutes of all hell breaking lose later we had over 3 inches rain and a lot of flooding in the area in the usual spots. It's still awful humid out and I'm hoping we get a break from it before next week's heat settles in. (Much of today the humidity was at 98% when it wasn't raining or foggy!) I stopped being a big fan of thunder storms when I was a kid and my Nana was watching me at Mom's one summer afternoon. I had no idea storms scared her until that day when we went and sat in the stairwell of my apartment building until the storm was over. Listening to the rain bang on the sky light at the top floor, where I lived. Feeling the thunder rattle the walls. If storms scared my Nana, the downright toughest woman I ever knew who could be a tad scary herself, well then they were certainly something to be scared of!

End Of May Recap!

How is it June already?!  While scratching my head trying to figure that out, let's recap the end of May: Memorial Day weekend was a big one for us in the milestones department. (With gorgeous weather to boot!) May 24th was our decade anniversary and May 25th was our 9th wedding anniversary! Did we do anything "special" for the weekend? No and yes. We gave one other gifts, but we didn't go away for the weekend or even go out to dinner either night. Hubbs was tired from work, so aside from running out for a bit, we stayed home, relaxing on the couch, me reading and him watching war movies on TCM. Sunday we had breakfast down at the marina and walked the harbor afterwards. Then he picked up my anniversary gift (a new tv and stand) while I cleaned out the old entertainment center. We spent the rest of the day doing things around the house, making dinner together and reading on the couch. It was a wonderful weekend together, filled with love.
