short post: april showers! and where does the time go?!

finally! we've had some showers & boomers (thunder) since friday & saturday nights, but, overall no significant rain for nearly 10 days until yesterday and today! temps are low, but it's dowright humid! yick! there are many things i want to do with my days & i just never seem to get anything overly constructive done! and i'm not sure how this happens! i'm so frustrated with myself!

I Want To Go!

This is one of the reasons I love my Fri, Sat, Sun subscription to the NY Times! What looks to be an AMAZING exhibit @ the NY Botanical Garden opens today called Darwins Garden, An Evolutionary Adventure! The Antique Garden and Furniture Show also opens this wkend! Such inspiration can be found each week in there pages!

Hope This Comes Out!

This here is my Bleeding Heart bush! I cannot believe how big it is already and that its blooming! Hope the short cold snap coming Saturday night doesnt shock it too much!

Speaking Of The Creek...

I took this pic on Tues, Earth Day, while cleaning up the creek area. What made me think of it is that it is now nearly a quarter after 11pm on Thurs evening and a handful of birds in the woods at the creek have been carrying on a very loud conversation for 15 minutes! Either someone has insomnia or their internal alarm clock has gone amuck! Thank goodness we dont live along side the creek!

Earth Day! (updated)

well, here's my little contribution in celebration of earth day today ~ not turning on any of the lights until dark (which i do normally & i tend to light candles on cloudy days just because i prefer candle light!) - walking to the library, hardware store and foodstore instead of driving the truck (which i do often, not all the time, so i can get out for a walk) - cleaning up all the trash that winds up along the creek that runs along side of the property (i only go on the other side of the fence into the creek area once a year ~ yick! ~ i pick up trash along our fence line as needed!) ... and i'm going to plant the celosia seeds (harvested in november!) that i found last night as i started a MAJOR cleaning in our bedroom! (i didn't know dust bunnies could get that big!) lots of stuff to throw away, lots of stuff stacked in the corner for the town yard sale next month! i still have to go through my book case and my closet, but the rest of this room is done! (thank goodn

huh...

when did i start liking the smell of fresh cut grass?! i've never liked that scent! i've always loved how grass clippings smell after they've been lying around for a few days ~ such a deliciously sweet summery scent! (now that's a scented candle i'd buy!) but lately i've found myself taking long, slow deep breath's when i smell fresh cut grass! (that'll last 'til my allergies start kicking up from the grasses!) i realized last week that i HATE the color hunter green. i'd gotten away from it for years & realized that it's back in my home & i'm not sure why! it was one thing to get my old sleeper love seat out of storage & use it ~ it's hunter green. that one item of hunter green is fine. but i see that the color hunter green has started popping up all over the house! the quilt set my mom got us last year (or was it the year before?) has a lot of hunter green in it, so there's hunter green in our bedroom. there's a

My Thoughts on Southern Stories

Friday, April 11, 2008 1:08:55 PM off and on for a long time now, i've wondered why i love southern stories and movies (fiction & non) so much. i'm drawn to and into them. they reach right down into my soul and resonate there. this morning, i was writing some things in a couple of different posts in the 'southern lit lovers' group i created on goodreads.com about what i've read & haven't, about the book/movie 'fried green tomato's, so i decided to put the movie on this afternoon ~ it's on now as i type this! oh how i LOVE this movie! and the line: "i'm too young to be old and to old to be young!" it hits me right in the heart everytime! (and "don't make no kind of sense! big ol' ox like grady won't sit next to a colored child, but he eats eggs that shoot right out of a chicken's ass!") southern stories are told via vivid descriptions that take you away to the sounds, smells, sights, tastes and people of

April Showers, Flowers And Rainbows - Part 5 Of 5

Brought home a half flat of pansys and a yellow primrose yesterday from Foodtown! They were on sale for $3.99 and $1.24! Think I may go back tomorrow and pick up more before the sale ends!

April Showers, Flowers And Rainbows - Part 4

Bleeding Heart is coming back! Yippie! Cant wait!

April Showers, Flowers And Rainbows - Part 3

I found these popping up in a pot out front and Im not sure what they are! Guess we shall wait and see!

Aprils Showers, Flowers And Rainbows - Part 2

Heavy showers passed through yesterday from about 5p through 6p and the sun popped out and this HUGE rainbow appeared! The cool thing is that 1 end of it ended across the street in the yard of a house on the highway! Ive never seen the end of a rainbow before! Beautiful and uplifting - truly appreciated after the nasty fight I had with Mom earlier in the day!

April Showers, Flowers And Rainbows - Part 1

I named this the Mystery Tree last year! Its a beauty 1st thing in the spring when its barn red buds open to these strawberry ice cream pink flowers! Then its leaves turn a dark read wine color through the beginning of winter!

The Pile Next To My Side Of The Bed!

I was straitening up last night and gathered all the books from my nightstand (on it, under it!) and this is what I ended up with! 12 books and 1 dvd. All but 3 of the books are in various stages of being read or re-read. I used to be so good at focusing on 1 book at a time! Sigh!
