This Perfectly Imperfect Life

I used to draw. Quite well in fact, especially flowers. I haven't drawn anything since... my 20s? Quite a while ago. 😬 But, recently I've wanted more of a creative outlet (which is also why I've been knitting again) to help with my writing, and healing from recent months, and I've wanted to give drawing a try again. I started off with roses (something I could once do so well), but, I've got a long way to go to get back to that level again (and that's okay). And then last night I thought: Sunflowers! 🌻 And throughout the evening I did this one. I've already started my second one today. Basic, but no matter, I'm doing it. My second and last #SheReads book selection of the summer! Yesterday I finished @author_lisa_wingate's latest novel, out now, and I'm still not sure I can put into a review into words. It's a beautifully written and gripping work about a heartbreaking period of history I knew nothing about until reading this. Historical fiction (of more recent history) at its' best. The Zinnias have started blooming, just in time to usher in the beginning of August, and late Summer!  The library holds keep rolling in! I'm so excited for this one - Fiona Davis's The Dollhouse was one of my favorite reads of last Fall! I just started The Address this morning & already can't put it down. This is her second novel, out now. Before finishing @pattichenry's newest book, out now, I knew it was my favorite of hers! She had me at the setting, Water's End, because it is like where I grew up, and where I live on the coast now; where both the river and the ocean influence everything & everything surrounded by them. (I'm a sucker for a setting that's its own character!) Add to that friendships, families & secrets, a vacation home, and a bookshop that's the heart of the community, and you have a page turner!
