My First At-Home I.V.!

Not sure if this video will actually post or not, but this is what I sent Hubby this afternoon during my 1st Remicade treatment. I'll get into it more tomorrow - still a bit loopy from the meds!

Finished! "Eat Pray Love"

Finally! 3 1/2 months after I started it. (I distract easily). I can honestly say that it is, so far, the most honestly written memoir I've read to date and for that it's amazin.! i under-lined many, many sentences in the book and I think I'm going to re-read just those parts before i put the book down to rest. WARNING: If you haven't read it and don't want anything to cloud your judgment, please don't read the rest of this paragraph and the next!!! I did want more closure at the end given the fact that I know liz gilbert goes on to buy a home and live in northwestern NJ & marries Felipe ~ she ends the book before anything concrete like that happens. I also tended to lose interest and get a bit bored during what I know refer to the 'history lessons' she gives in the book as backgrounds on different places and religious practices becauseIi felt it got a bit too academic (for my taste!) and lengthy. I also tended to lose interest at times when I felt I

New Yarns for the Stash!

Got these the week before last at AC Moore during their 25% off all yarn sale! I usually buy at least 2 skeins of any yarn, but I controlled myself and only bought 1 of each since I have no idea what to do with them! From the top: Bernat Soft Boucle in Rosewood Shades, Bernat Camouflage in Pink Camo, Moda Dea Silk n Wool Blend in Orchid Pink and Patons SWS Soy Wool Stripes in Natural Geranium.
i was voted in charge of coming up with the topic this month for the writing group and i initially suggested writing about "what we want to do with 2008." then i became inspired by barbara abercrombie's "kitchen tables" post on her blog writing time.net! ( www.writingtime.net ) barbara talked about how the idea for the site was cooked up (so to speak!) one day at the kitchen table w/her daughter. another inspired woman wrote about how she wrote on her blog about how her front porch is magical when she puts pen to paper. overall it made me think about where i do my writing at home. (i say "at home" because out of my own doing, i generally do not have the opportunity to write away from home). so i then emailed the girls and told them of being inspired and suggested that in addition to or instead of my original topic, why not write about "where we feel most inspired" to do writing or just come up with idea's?! so, here's the piece

And I Thought I Put the Heater On For Me! (THIS IS MY 300TH POST!!!)

Silly human! (who knew this would be my 300th post?!?! (g)jw, 1/23/08)

Too Cute!

Yesterday, Hubby and I spent the day snuggled on the couch under our fleece throws - today Booper is holding down the fort!

A Lazy Day at Home with Hubby!

My favorite kind! In bed, on the couch, watching tv, reading the Sunday NY Times, eating, talking, snoozing...! The full moon is rising at the end of a bitter cold day in the 20s. I think I will order chinese food for dinner! Delivery of course!

Desperate Times, Desperate Measures!

I cannot take this sinus infection with its waves of face and head pain, nausea, fever, eye pain, fatigue and absolute misery! I have been like this nearly a week and there does not seem to be an end in sight! Ironically, the day before this set in, I was watching a repeat of Dr.Oz on Oprah and they were talking about and demonstrating the Neti Pot (to rinse out your sinuses) and I thought to myself that I should try it some time. Last night, Hubby and I stopped at Whole Foods and picked one up. I used it once last night and once today - not much difference as of yet, but we shall see! (didn't realize that knife was on the counter when i took the pic! how funny given the title of this post!!!)

journey for 2008

as i sit here typing this by our bedroom window, a few rumbles of thunder have sounded off in the distance, the balmy air is kicking up into a breeze and rain has begun to fall again. there was thunder early this morning too, while i slept, it woke me just enough. we're at an odd spot here for weather ~ the bay only a mile or 2 behind us and the ocean to its' right, only a few miles to our side, (though it's really all the same water, isn't it?!). we've been here just over 2 years and most of the time i still cannot tell in which direction the clouds are really moving! much of the time, storms circle over head because of those bodies of water and out front, seem to be going this way and out back, seem to be going that way! i have wanted to write about what i want to do with 2008 for some time, but i've been finding it very difficult to translate what i'm feeling into concrete, specific words that don't sound hokey (to me!)! i can tell you that these feel

Takin' A Walk! Part 7

At the little beach sort of next to the Marina!

Takin' A Walk! Part 6

Down at the Marina!

Takin' A Walk! Part 5

A look back up at the short cut in Part 4!

Takin' A Walk! Part 4

Takin' a short cut from Ocean way down to the Marina!

Takin' A Walk! Part 3!

Very modern piece off to the side of an older, more rustic house! Not sure if it is made from some kind of boat propellers or giant teeth type things like what would be in a blender.

Takin' A Walk! Part 2

These stone stairs are on the other side of the stone bridge in Part 1.

Takin' A Walk! Part 1

64 degrees today has felt a lot warmer than 64 degrees yesterday, even with all this wind! I am not sure why, but the wind sounds amazing here! Perhaps it is because there are so many high and low points in the land - not much is flat unless it is man made flatness! Anyway, you can hear the wind well before it gets to you and long after it has past! Hard to descibe in actual words. The only other place I have heard the wind like this is at my sister-in-laws cabin up in the Endless Mountains of PA!

We're Havin' A Heat Wave...!

Got to 61 yesterday. Supposed to get up to 71 today! And I am in bed with the sinus headache from hell today! UGH! I had a lot I want to do today! Start boxing up the Christmas decs inside and take down the lights outside! Not to mention some cleaning, reading and writing! Well, actually I did do my morning pages writing, though it took me about 2 hours! (Sorry, but Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs was on Rachael Ray this morning!) So I guess I have to suck it up if I can and get moving! (So much for my walk downtown to the library and the marina!)

New Year's Day 2008!

Aaaah! The NHL Winter Classic hockey game is on ch4 (Pittsburg Penguins vs the Buffalo Sabres - played outside and not in an arena and its snowing in Buffalo!) and a Law and Order marathon on ch24! A good start to the new year! (We also had bfast with our nephew, done some reading, writing and knitting and have pot roast in the oven! Now I have to stop one of the cats from drinking out of the Christmas tree base - again!)
