(Not So) Wordless Wednesday

Happy September 1st!

A little early for Autumn foliage like this, by a few weeks at the very least, (in my humble opinion), but it's here nonetheless. (I took this photo today at our place up north). Seeing the splashes of red & yellow make me happy and I feel the excitement for the arrival of our next season building. (I'll be so glad when this Summer is behind me and not just because of the horrendous heat & humidity!)

Hurricane Earl is coming and supposed to arrive here early Friday. Right now we're already under a tropical storm warning. The weather people don't really seem to know what might happen which isn't surprising. Some reports say it might be on par with the Nor'Easter we had here in March which was bad, but if that's all Earl amounts to, we'll be very lucky. We went to our place up north to 'batten down the hatches' just in case Earl hugs closer to the coast and sends wind and rain that far inland. (Right now it seems as though that's the only area of NJ which will be unaffected by Earl). It seems to be a fast moving storm, which is good.

Tomorrow I'm running out to pick up a few essentials like candles, batteries, canned goods and extra water because it's better 'to be safe than sorry,' especially when you live right on the coast like we do. I'll put away the patio furniture & what not as well and try to position some of the containers so they won't get blown around. Prepare for the worst (a smart thing to do), hope for the best! I hope if you're in Earl's path that you & yours fare well.

Actually, I'm looking forward to Earl! Its' arrival will end this disgusting heat wave we've been stuck in since last week. It was 101* today. Good grief.

A quick health update: Unfortunately, the nephrostomy tube in my left kidney wasn't removed last Tuesday as planned. Apparently the cracker jack hospital urologist only read my ct scan reports and didn't look at the actual scans and there's a very tiny kidney stone lodged in the wall of the tube which leads from my left kidney to my bladder. (The surgeon (who put the tube in) looked at the ct scans, showed us where the obstruction is and tried to call the urologist who was "unavailable" and never called the surgeon back). This was the final straw in a long line of bs we've been dealing with when it comes to this doctor and his staff - I officially kicked him to the curb and will be seeing an in-network urologist later this month. A patient's health should not be taken care of at a doctor's leisure (aka whenever the hell he feels like it or happens to get around to it), especially when the patient's overall health and a vital organ become at stake the longer nothing is done.

And so it continues...

Dear Jo,

So sorry to hear about the doctor nonsense...sending good thoughts your way...

Hope Earl doesn't hit you too hard..they seem to keep changing the forecast every hour or so, now saying that Long Island may be hard hit as well...

Beautiful photo by the way...makes me anxious for fall :)
Thanks for the good thoughts & about the photo! I'm actually looking forward to Earl - its' arrival ends this disgusting heat wave we've been stuck in! It's a wait & see thing. I've prepared just in case.

I love your picture. The fall is my favorite season. I wish my area had more dramatic fall leaves. I hope you have a lovely time up at your cabin.

An Enchanted Garden Party

Welcome to my post! To visit other participants, please head over to the Practical Magic Blog Party 2010 blog. I must say that while I think Practical Magic the movie is adorable, I think the novel is incredible. And that is where I gleaned my inspiration from for these festivities. Gardens are mysterious, magical and enchanting, don't you think? Now follow me out into the garden, I have everything all ready for you, including music! (Turn your volume on). *Update: Music has reverted to my regular Fall soundtrack, 9/28/2010* For all of you non Practical Magic Blog Party folks, head on over to NJ Through My Eyes where I've posted 2 new slide-shows today; one is a preview of a new project I'm working on!

A Walk Through The (Dis)Enchanted Forrest (Halloween Party Post)

Welcome & thank you for visiting my post! For more Halloween fun today & throughout the weekend, visit A Fanciful Twist . For more Halloween & Autumn Fun, check out my "Autumn Tuesday" & "Halloween Thursday" posts by clicking on their labels in the left hand column. ~Happy Halloween & Pumpkin Blessings! *Update for those friends wondering, I put this together prior to surgery yesterday to make sure I would be able to post it for today! (Though it didn't post at 12:01am like it was supposed to). Anyhoo, I'm home and resting (uncomfortably). Surgery went well, my kidney tube and stone are gone! I have an internal stent on the left hand side but I'm okay with that because it comes out in the doctor's office in 2-3 weeks (no back to the hospital) and especially because it meant they could take that nephrostomy tube out! (The last nearly 2 weeks of that 15 weeks was rough with that thing, my body was simultaneously trying to heal aroun...

2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party 2011 is Here! *Updated*

It's time for the 2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party created & hosted by the wonderful Anna of Frosted Petunias ! My sincerest apologies for getting this up rather late! The adventure that is post Hurricane Irene cleanup & repairs has been taking up too much time recently. (sigh) Things are a mess; I only started decorating for Autumn yesterday and I'm missing Halloween decorations! Luckily my broom is always safe and sound by the front door so at least I don't have to wonder where it is. (Not that it hasn't been known to scamper off now and again - naughty broom). I was afraid, quite honestly, that I wouldn't even get a post up sometime today! I kept hitting dead ends with every other one I tried. But, this morning I sat here at the computer and it flowed. Thankfully! I would have been so disappointed if I'd missed this, it was such fun last year! As some may remember from last years party, while I like the movie, (and love that house!), I love the...
