(October is) Domestic Violence Awareness Month - "Learn the Facts"

Please click on the following link which will take you to an excellent and informative post on a friends blog:

http://mandy-dailyreflections.blogspot.com/2009/10/domestic-violence-awareness-month-learn.html

I also learned from this friend that October is also Down Syndrome Awareness Month in addition to Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Stop letting Pink hold all the attention and spread the word so all get equal billing regardless of their marketability!

Hi! I read about your blog and interest in domestic violence on Lisa's blog at Lit and Life. I think the button you created for "October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month" is fantastic. I posted it on my blog and mentioned your name and blog. I hope that's ok. I realize I should have asked your first. I'm sorry about that, I'm still sort of new to blogging and I'm still learning all of the ins and outs. I think domestic violence is an extremely important issue that people need to be aware of. I used to prosecute domestic violence abusers and know the horros it can wreak on families lives.

You've got a great blog!
No worries Amy! Thanks so much for doing that and posting the button on your blog! Much appreciated! (And thanks also regarding my blog!) Thanks for stopping by to let me know and hope to see you again! (I can't imagine what you've seen as a prosecutor but thank you for being one for however long you were).

Thank you Jo for posting the link. I appreciate it. I think a lot of things in October go unnoticed. This week is also fire safety week. Very important for children to learn the dangers of fire and a good reminder to check your smoke and carbon detectors.

Just an FYI -- October is also,
National Liver Awareness Month
Celiac Awareness Month
Healthy Lung Month
National Orthodontic Health Month
National Brain Injury Awareness Month
National Spina Bifida Month
Lupus Awareness Month
Rett Syndrome Awareness Month

This week is also Mental Illness Awareness Week and there is a National Depression Screening Day on the 11th and World Mental Health Day is the 10th.

On top of that this month there is an Osteoporosis Day (2oth) and Stuttering Awareness Day (22nd).

October is full of events. Its ashame that they aren't as advertised as others.
Holy Crow Mandy! Thank you for sharing that with me! I think I may add a sidebar to my blog listing all of those.

(Turn your volume on). *Update: Music has reverted to my regular Fall soundtrack, 9/28/2010* For all of you non Practical Magic Blog Party folks, head on over to NJ Through My Eyes where I've posted 2 new slide-shows today; one is a preview of a new project I'm working on!

Welcome! I'm so happy to have had so many visitors already! I must apologize for not being ready for you earlier! I also apologize for the wacky font sizes throughout my post. No matter how hard I try, I can't correct them. Happy Halloween Fete 2009! Love and Spookiness to All! ~Jo (Continue scrolling down until the end of the post) Outside, it's a gloomy & cold day here on the NJ coast. Many a restless Spirit wander here on days like this. One can never be too sure if the fog & mist are just as they seem. Inside, it is warm yet equally frightful! Creepy crawlies have gotten into the food & drink, I so hope you don't mind! What with all of the party hopping we're doing, I didn't want you to bust a gut, so I've laid out some Pumpkin Cook...

(Though it didn't post at 12:01am like it was supposed to). Anyhoo, I'm home and resting (uncomfortably). Surgery went well, my kidney tube and stone are gone! I have an internal stent on the left hand side but I'm okay with that because it comes out in the doctor's office in 2-3 weeks (no back to the hospital) and especially because it meant they could take that nephrostomy tube out! (The last nearly 2 weeks of that 15 weeks was rough with that thing, my body was simultaneously trying to heal aroun...
