I took this at the bagel shop yesterday morning during breakfast because Hubby doesn't need to wear his glasses too often and I love how he looks when he does!
This man still makes me giddy, still makes me sigh, still makes me smile from the inside out!
He's the most amazing man I've ever known and sometimes when I look at him I still cannot believe he's MY husband! This incredible, strong, gorgeous man is my husband!
Who'd a thought?! Certainly not me! My loser streak prior to Hubby led me to not want to get married and I had accepted that mostly likely I wouldn't.
There's a saying that all women start planning their weddings when they're little girls. Not me. All I ever dreamed of was finding a man who loved & respected me unconditionally. I literally never gave a thought to marriage or weddings.
I planned our wedding in less than 8 days for next to nothing ($) and it was one of the best & happiest times of my life! I haven't one regret about any of it. It was about us, pledging our love & loyalty to one another, and nothing else. So many of our guests have had big weddings & afterwards told us they wish they'd done it like we did.
May 24th of this year we'll have been together 5 years.
Aug 21st of this year will be 5 years he asked me to marry him, I said yes and we pledged our love & loyalty to one another before God (and the kitties!).
May 16th of this year, the 9th anniversary of my Nana's passing, will be the 4th anniversary of our symbolic ceremony down in Florida for his parents when his Mom was dieing of cancer. (She passed away June 5th).
May 25th of this year is our 4th wedding anniversary, the day we (finally!) made it all legal.
I still love him every bit as much as when we first got together and even more!

Teri, that's so sweet of you, thanks!
This is such a sweet post. You are so lucky to have each other!
I'm with you about ceremonies. Unlike so many little girls I never wanted a big wedding. I hate being the center of attention and knew that I wouldn't have any fun. Instead, I always fantasized about running off to Lake Tahoe to get married, which we did. It was just the two of us with the Pastor and his wife on a cliff overlooking Emerald Bay. And instead of a huge reception right after, we had the brunch buffet at Caesars, and dinner at Applebee's that night. About 6 weeks later we had a reception/party where we live with friends and family. It was all so relaxing and stress free - perfect!! It's all about the commitment and marriage, not the wedding.
Here's to many more years of happiness to you and your hubby!
Lizzi, that sounds wonderful! And thank you.
And I love the picture :-)
