Happy Halloween! (Updated)

I hope you've had a fun, safe, lovely and Blessed day today! (Click on photo's to enlarge).

We started out at the cemetery this morning, first to visit my Nana.

This Mockingbird watched us the entire time we were visiting Nana and began to sing as we got ready to leave.

Then we headed across the highway to another cemetery...

"My daddy always said there's a separate God for children." (Fried Green Tomato's). There's also a separate place for children here.

Happy Halloween Boo! Lord how your Mama loves you. On days like today, I embrace the grief so I can let it go until the next time. Hubbs is just the most amazing, loving man - holding me as I cry for a daughter lost, crying his own tears though she wasn't his.

Cemeteries are beautiful places.

Could this be the same Mocking Bird from Nana's cemetery?

Once home, I finished up some last minute preparations for the trick.or.treater's and got started on making a roast beef for dinner. (It came out So delish!) This is our front porch. (Hubbs said this is the Halloween version of sitting on Santa's lap, lol!)

Our living room mantle.

From the back yard, I caught site of this Gyr Falcon sitting in the tree across the street. Yesterday we saw a Paragon Falcon (which is much larger than this fella) flying over head.

And now it's time for rest after a busy weekend. More photo's may follow soon (in a slide show).

Tomorrow is All Saint's Day, and November 2nd is All Souls Day as well as Day Of The Dead. If you haven't taken some time already to remember your loved ones who have passed, perhaps do so in the coming days. I find it a nice, comforting annual ritual.

Pumpkin Blessings!

*Update: Here are the rest of the photo's from Halloween~

How appropriate that you saw a mockingbird at both your Nana's and daughter's graves. I just finished reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" and seeing that bird watching you makes what the book says so real.

We visited the local cemetery on All Soul's Day and left some flowers for a few of our favorite pioneer graves. We do not have a grave to visit for our son Joshua but for many years I had a small altar for him in our home and I always decorated it for Halloween and other holidays. It's dismantled now, but I still put up the decorations I used to put there and think of him. Of course, I always think of him, but it's nice to have rituals.
I am so sorry for your loss Laume! Thank you for sharing it with me. I find rituals comforting to an extent. (Sometimes I wonder if they don't upset me more). For Christmas, I buy presents for Brianna and donate them to the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program.

2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party 2011 is Here! *Updated*

It's time for the 2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party created & hosted by the wonderful Anna of Frosted Petunias ! My sincerest apologies for getting this up rather late! The adventure that is post Hurricane Irene cleanup & repairs has been taking up too much time recently. (sigh) Things are a mess; I only started decorating for Autumn yesterday and I'm missing Halloween decorations! Luckily my broom is always safe and sound by the front door so at least I don't have to wonder where it is. (Not that it hasn't been known to scamper off now and again - naughty broom). I was afraid, quite honestly, that I wouldn't even get a post up sometime today! I kept hitting dead ends with every other one I tried. But, this morning I sat here at the computer and it flowed. Thankfully! I would have been so disappointed if I'd missed this, it was such fun last year! As some may remember from last years party, while I like the movie, (and love that house!), I love the...

The Time Is Upon Us Once Again!

Welcome Friends! It's time once again for A Fanciful Twist Halloween Party ! Warmest thanks to the lovely Vanessa for hosting again this year. My apologies for not having this up sooner, I've been dreadfully under the weather and my helpers have been more of a hindrance! My lovely kitchen witch Helvetica has given up time off and has been cooking & baking away since last night but the skeletons have been eating everything in sight (damn their bottomless stomachs!) though they won't fess up and the invisible man has been raving on and on every time the door bell rings! I do hope you'll enjoy your visit to Pumpkin Manor and have a Happy Halloween ! I look forward to your return. (Slideshow below - if it plays too fast, hover your cursor on it until the <- -> appear & click on them to view what you've missed). 11:14pm (3/16/09) Watching a documentary Tennessee is so beautiful Head & nose all stuffy Out of ZyrtekD - sigh Want to read but distracted by my clogged head Hubby's snoring a little, restless a lot I worry about him He's so tired, works so much Doesn't get to do what he enjoys often enough (If at all) He willingly took my burdens & made them his own I'm still not used to being taken care of Makes me uncomfortable, guilty I took care of things for so many years Are 2 persons "stuff" too much for 1 person? Even a good, strong man? I know what it is to do more than my "fair share" Though the situation was completely different Is the end result the same?
