I appreciate truly the historical significance of this Inauguration and watching this piece of our Nation's history isn't lost on me. But, I do not know if President Obama can possibly live up to the unrealistic expectations that have been placed (unfairly?) on him by our Country and the World. (He is, after all, a human being, not a god, exceptional though he may be).

Change can & will happen and I pray it takes our Nation to a better place than it is now, however if it doesn't happen instantly (which of course it won't) I believe many will be disappointed and angry.

Ok, politic-ing & faltering optimism over!

My husband and I were discussing this yesterday. Whomever we each voted for, I think we can all agree that some change is needed in our country right now. I think the change has to start from each of us, in being accountable for more than just ourselves. For a long time, I think, our country has been full of a lot of "me first" people. I hope our new president can help us start to look at things a little differently.

Teri, I agree that change has to start with each and every one of us because I feel it's truly going to take a very long time for our Government and big companies to "change" their ways, if they ever do. (What they're doing benefits them and that's what they're concerned about, not us). It really does have to start with individuals.

There has been SO much "me me me" in our society which seemed to just steam roll after a brief pause once September 11th happened. I, for the life of me, couldn't see how society could become worse after something like that, but it did! The thought did not occur to me after September 11th to become greedy and self centered!

I had my misgivings before the election and I still have them as President Obama's cabinet choices are giving me deja vu.

My POV has changed a lot in the last 4 years or so not only because I'm getting older (that good ol' hindsight) but also because of being married to a Marine and being invloved with our American Legion/Ladies Auxillary and Veteran's from our current wars as well as past.

What I do think is amazing is that a man who considers himself a writer (who is indeed and a good one at that) is our President! That gives me hope and makes me smile. The rest I have to wait & see on!

No one man nor one term is going to fix this situation we are in. He is not a messiah and for us to place all these expectations to "fix us" on him will only lead to disappointment. I believe he is basically good, but Washington has a way of corrupting the good. The Roman Empire was the worlds "greatest" civilization" for a long time, until the leaders became corrupt and greedy. History will repeat itself if we the people do nothing.
I hope he can inspire the young people as he did in his campaign, to get involved, to get interested. To get this change underway, they have to stay involved. My humble opinion, of course.

The Time Is Upon Us Once Again!

Welcome Friends! It's time once again for A Fanciful Twist Halloween Party ! Warmest thanks to the lovely Vanessa for hosting again this year. My apologies for not having this up sooner, I've been dreadfully under the weather and my helpers have been more of a hindrance! 11:14pm (3/16/09) Watching a documentary Tennessee is so beautiful Head & nose all stuffy Out of ZyrtekD - sigh Want to read but distracted by my clogged head Hubby's snoring a little, restless a lot I worry about him He's so tired, works so much Doesn't get to do what he enjoys often enough (If at all) He willingly took my burdens & made them his own I'm still not used to being taken care of Makes me uncomfortable, guilty I took care of things for so many years Are 2 persons "stuff" too much for 1 person? Even a good, strong man? I know what it is to do more than my "fair share" Though the situation was completely different Is the end result the same?
