it's truly appauling how un-American this state & country are becoming!

the following is a letter i sent out today to nj senator menendez and governor corzine, via their websites. i also emailed everyone i know with a copy, whether or not they live in nj since this could make the rounds through the country if nj passes it.

"Dear Senator/Governor,

My mother told me this afternoon that she heard on the radio this morning that the NJ State Legislature is considering passing a bill for NJ schools to no longer observe Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. I find this to be disgraceful, un-American and an embarrassment to our State.

My husband is no longer an active Marine, but "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" rings true for him and he has taught me true Patriotism. I cannot imagine his allowing our future children attend schools that do not teach about or observe Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. I know I won't allow it.

Is it any wonder why so many people are leaving our State for others?!

I have emailed everyone I know about this, whether or not they live in NJ because this could start a very disappointing trend if NJ follows through. In a time of war and crisis, is this the message of support we want to send to our troops?!

I would hope that as a Democrat and someone I voted for, you will be fighting against this and will get across the point that those who have fought for our freedoms, in the past, present & future, deserve nothing but our upmost respect and honor, as well as their place in history.

Sincerely..."

as i said above, it's truly appauling how un-American this state and this country is becoming.

An Enchanted Garden Party

Welcome to my post! To visit other participants, please head over to the Practical Magic Blog Party 2010 blog. I must say that while I think Practical Magic the movie is adorable, I think the novel is incredible. And that is where I gleaned my inspiration from for these festivities. Gardens are mysterious, magical and enchanting, don't you think? Now follow me out into the garden, I have everything all ready for you, including music! (Turn your volume on). *Update: Music has reverted to my regular Fall soundtrack, 9/28/2010* For all of you non Practical Magic Blog Party folks, head on over to NJ Through My Eyes where I've posted 2 new slide-shows today; one is a preview of a new project I'm working on!

A Walk Through The (Dis)Enchanted Forrest (Halloween Party Post)

Welcome & thank you for visiting my post! For more Halloween fun today & throughout the weekend, visit A Fanciful Twist . For more Halloween & Autumn Fun, check out my "Autumn Tuesday" & "Halloween Thursday" posts by clicking on their labels in the left hand column. ~Happy Halloween & Pumpkin Blessings! *Update for those friends wondering, I put this together prior to surgery yesterday to make sure I would be able to post it for today! (Though it didn't post at 12:01am like it was supposed to). Anyhoo, I'm home and resting (uncomfortably). Surgery went well, my kidney tube and stone are gone! I have an internal stent on the left hand side but I'm okay with that because it comes out in the doctor's office in 2-3 weeks (no back to the hospital) and especially because it meant they could take that nephrostomy tube out! (The last nearly 2 weeks of that 15 weeks was rough with that thing, my body was simultaneously trying to heal aroun...

2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party 2011 is Here! *Updated*

It's time for the 2nd Annual Practical Magic Blog Party created & hosted by the wonderful Anna of Frosted Petunias ! My sincerest apologies for getting this up rather late! The adventure that is post Hurricane Irene cleanup & repairs has been taking up too much time recently. (sigh) Things are a mess; I only started decorating for Autumn yesterday and I'm missing Halloween decorations! Luckily my broom is always safe and sound by the front door so at least I don't have to wonder where it is. (Not that it hasn't been known to scamper off now and again - naughty broom). I was afraid, quite honestly, that I wouldn't even get a post up sometime today! I kept hitting dead ends with every other one I tried. But, this morning I sat here at the computer and it flowed. Thankfully! I would have been so disappointed if I'd missed this, it was such fun last year! As some may remember from last years party, while I like the movie, (and love that house!), I love the...
