Wishing you on this wintry Saturday a...

I hope you have a lovely day, no matter the weather!

Throwback Thursday

Going back to 5/24/13 when I brought Gertrude Jekyll, a David Austin rose (my first DA) home. A birthday present to myself. I couldn't stop taking photos of her!  She was coming back strong last season (2014), until a very late cold snap, and she never recovered. Debating on replacing her with another this year. I'm not sure it will be in the budget (if there even is a gardening budget this year, that remains to be seen), but I do miss Gertrude so! I think she and Julia Child would get along famously, although I'm afraid Queen Elizabeth is getting a tad put off by being surrounded by other famous women ;-)   Do you have a favorite rose you once grew that you no longer have in your garden?

Friday Favorites: Pink

"I like pink. Pink is my signature color." -Shelby, Steel Magnolia's. I love pink! (Not so shocking for those of you who know me well, I know).  Not a particular shade, pretty much all shades.  In the garden, in the home, in my clothes & accessories.  It's one of those colors that makes me Happy .  Oh sure, I love other colors too (like many shades of orange, purple and barn red), but pink is at the top of my list.   Today, here are some of my favorite shades of pink, from pale to bordering on red, from my garden. (Taken this morning before the storms arrived). 'Autumn Joy' Sedum 'Queen Elizabeth' Grandiflora rose 'Strawberries & Cream' Hydrangea 'Rosa Radrazz' Knock Out rose What is your favorite color? Wordless Wednesday: In My Garden Today

"I like pink...

Pink is my signature color." -Shelby, Steel Magnolias. (I love that line!) And it looks to me like pink is my signature color in my garden. Because it is my favorite color and in honor of my daughter. While I also love orange, red, yellow, purple, white, certain shade of blue & all shades of green in my garden, pink is the color that makes my heart burst with joy! I have 6 pink roses, pink azalea's, pink Bleeding Heart, pink phlox, pink peonies...  Then there are those multi-color roses which have pink in them as well & the gladiola's, the wax begonia's, petunia's...  Sissinghurst has The White Garden, perhaps I will have The Pink Garden. Hhhmmm...  There's an idea!  More shades of pink to come as things begin to bloom, bloom, bloom!
