A Writers Journal and Living With Disease: Putting It Out There

Written Friday, September 27, 2013 Well great googley moogley, I hit rock bottom the end of last week and through the weekend! Friday I came down with what I thought was a wicked awful case of (self inflicted) food poisoning which turned out to be a wicked nasty stomach virus! (We figured it out when Hubbs started getting sick on Sunday with the same thing). Top 5 sickest I’ve ever been and I nearly died 2 of those times! This time I actually felt like I was going to die (and wanted to quite honestly – others who’ve had it have said the same thing). A week later for me and I’m still not 100% though I have graduated to light foods besides soup, crackers & toast and I was actually hungry today. (Apparently it’s going around so Watch Out!) Thankfully I’m feeling better emotionally now than I was last weekend in the middle of it all. The lowest I have been in a very long time. I think I’ve been leading up to it anyhow what with what I wrote about in my last piece. (Anger, r...

In My Garden Today: First #GardenWalk of Autumn

Happy first full day of Autumn everyone! Here is a quick look at some of what's bloomin' in my garden today. Late season roses make my heart sing! Snuck a Scarlet O'Hara morning glory in there as well. How is your garden growing?

Welcome Autumn!

The Joy Of Home

Got out for a little bit today and spent some time roaming Home Goods, a favorite (did I say favorite?) store. Yes, I agree, my fondness for Owls may be getting a tad out of hand, but they make me smile! How many do I have now...? Um, that's not important. So, anyhoo, I love the Autumnal colors of the newbie Owls and the small candle holder ones are just adorable! I'm also super excited about the reversible king size quilt I found, on clearance for 60% off! I love it and it matches the colors in the curtains. And it introduces a bit of orange into the bedroom color scheme. I'm so happy with it! Giddy even. Lots of nesting going on here at The Portable Homestead - Autumn arrives on Sunday! How are you getting ready for Autumn's arrival?

Anger: A Writers Journal and a Living With Disease piece.

Yes, today I'm angry. Well, I wasn't at first, but as the day wore on, it welled up inside of me. Yesterday was my first IV session since the beginning of June. I normally have one every six weeks. Coming down with a sinus infection and bronchitis postponed it once, then my being too run down from flare-ups and migraines postponed it again. It's hit or miss really with how much an IV will knock me on my arse. I'm always run down by it for a few days, then there are the times when I'm down for a week after. If I'm off schedule, it usually hits me hard. And that's happening now. At the very least, I wanted to write today. So, while in my favorite chair huddled under a fleece robe (couldnt get warm on this chilly day thabks to the meds) at one point I picked up my notepad and started making additional notes to the ones I started this Saturday. But that's as far as I always get. I don't know how to begin! How to begin writing this or these s...

#GardenWalk Featured Tweeters: Week of 9/13 and A Note About #GardenWalk Thursdays

My apologies to everyone! I have been having issues with scheduled posts again and instead of them showing up here, they've disappeared.  So, today I am going to feature tweets from the week ending yesterday and we'll pick up again next week as usual. I invite everyone to take a look back at the #GardenWalk hashtag feed by clicking here so you can see the inspiring late Summer shares from gardens around the world! A note about #GardenWalk Thursdays: Because I started doing the Weekly Round-Up and combined that and the #GardenWalk Thursday Featured Tweeter into one post a while back to avoid double posts each week and the Weekly Round-Up is getting such a positive response, I've decided to discontinue #GardenWalk Thursdays altogether.  You may share whatever day of the week you like or daily! And I will continue to share as well and do the Weekly Round-Up here. And now for this week's Featured Tweeters! Hope you have a nice evening (another variation same plan...

The Joy Of Home: Getting Ready For Autumn!

Today, I officially got started on switching things over to Autumn beginning with the front porch, and I'm nearly beside myself with excitement! The weather is simply perfect today, breezy & cool, with just enough nip in the air for a sweater and slippers. I made chili for lunch and it too was perfect for today. It's all I can do not to run around screaming, "It's here! It's HERE!!!" (Here meaning Autumn, my favorite time of year). What? Oh, alright then, I won't run around screaming like a lunatic. But I can't make any promises that there won't be any sudden explosive outbursts of joy... I just can't help myself at this time of year! How are you enjoying your Saturday?

Porches

I love front porches!  Love, love, love them! And these are two favorites from this past weekend.  It was the quintessential late Summer day and every porch along this street seemed to invite its' residents to stop and take a moment. I thought I had a "Porches" series going here on Through My Eyes 360 but just created the label today, so this will be the first of many to come! By the way, a pink front door?! Yes, please!
