Catching Up

Mom was released from the hospital Saturday morning. Very close call, very lucky. As of now a diagnosis of high blood pressure, under-active thyroid and strep throat/upper respiratory infection. Her heart is ok and there's no proof of a stroke though she may have had a small one that isn't showing up or started to have one but they got her blood pressure down in time to stop it. She's still having trouble talking (which could be related to her thyroid, not necessarily a stroke) but my Aunt says that's improving. She's getting a lot of sleep which I'm glad for and she's feeling a little better each day. I'm so relieved and thankful Mom was able to stay with my Aunt! We had to leave Saturday night to head south to see my Father.in.law who's ailing (and won't improve, can only decline) and I was afraid we'd have to postpone the trip altogether because of things with Mom - and what if something happened to Dad before we got the chance to get d...
I took these beautiful photos from my mother's hospital room this evening. In July of 2010, I was on the same floor, the Cardiac Unit, but I was in the Adult CCU section on the other side of the building. Long story short, aside from blood pressure issues, we don't know if there's anything else going on. Her tests today did not indicate a stroke or heart attack & her ekg didn't indicate that she's had prolonged uncontrolled high blood pressure. She's on blood pressure meds, has a heart monitor and tomorrow will have more tests (heart, brain, lungs) as well as bloodwork every 4 hours. Hopefully we'll know more tomorrow and it's good news. Prayers, well-wishes & good thoughts are greatly welcomed & appreciated!

Happy Valentines

Pinky, our eldest kitty isn't doing well. We have an appointment with the vet tomorrow. (The vet wasn't in today or we'd have taken Pinky in today). I know it's time and I can hardly stand it. It's so awful, watching his decline, waiting for the sign(s) that tell me it's time so he doesn't suffer (any more than he may be already). Pinky, my first kitty, 4 months shy of 14 years old. I was just 23 when I got him as a wee kitten. Now I'm nearing 37. And crying like a baby as my heart breaks. Again. A year ago today we lost our Tuxedo kitty.
